W.A. Herington Center

To meet the needs of students, faculty and staff during the construction of the recently funded Mabee Recreation and Wellness Center, Culver-Stockton College is in the process of building a new athletic and events center. Named the W.A. Herington Center, the new facility will be used for physical education courses, indoor athletic practices and special campus events.

The purpose of this new center is to fullfill facility needs on campus while the Mabee Recreation and Wellness Center is being completed and afterwards, to continue as a training facility for athletic teams, physical education courses and special campus events. The building is located north of the Herrick Foundation Center.

The facility will include:
- Faculty and coach offices
- Opposing teams locker room
- Multi-purpose indoor space for team practices and events

W.A. “Bill” Herington

W.A. “Bill” Herington was a C-SC basketball coach, physical education professor and athletic director at Culver-Stockton from 1938-1965. He was also named president of the NAIA in 1951, and inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1955. Under his tenure, the C-SC men’s basketball team won multiple conference titles, as well as made five national tournament appearances. Generously funded through private gifts by alumni and friends, this building is in honor of Coach Herington’s many years of service to Culver-Stockton College.
