Criminal Justice

Students in the criminal justice program gain knowledge specific to the institutions and processes of criminal justice. The program is designed to provide educational preparation for students desiring entry-level positions in both public and private agencies concerned with the administration of justice.

  • Potential career tracks are local, state and federal law enforcement or corrections, various types of protective services, private security and graduate or law school.

  • Gain hands-on experience through various internship opportunities.

  • Students can do the general criminal justice track, or choose a specialization.

Specializations:

Forensic Accounting: Requires a blend of business courses and Criminal Justice, for students interested in investigating fraudulent activities specific to financial record keeping.

Forensic Science: Requires a blend of chemistry, biology and criminal justice classes, for students interested in investigating crime scenes and analyzing evidence.

Schroer joined the C-SC faculty in 2014. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Maryville University in St. Louis, Mo. with degrees in political science and sociology, followed by her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Washington University School of Law.

After practicing law in a variety of areas she began her teaching career, eventually creating the Paralegal Studies Program at Maryville University, where she taught for nine years. She also worked in the legal publishing industry and has managed her own business.

Schroer teaches in the areas of criminal law, trial advocacy, alternative dispute resolution, and legal research & writing. Schroer also leads the Mock Trial and Mediation Teams at Culver-Stockton College. She is a member of the Missouri Bar Association and former chair of the Paralegal Committee. She is an active advocate for animal rights.
